My mother shared this gem with me at some point in high school. I was struggling through college essays and AP Lit papers and I did not want her help. She reminded me that published writers have editors, and that the best writers have great editors. Have someone edit your work. Use a variety of editors. Your friend in law school doesn’t need to understand thermodynamics to help you. They understand a clear argument and can tell you if yours is such. Your bff doesn’t need to understand philosophy if they are a grammar fanatic. They will catch when you write “asses” instead of “assess”, after you’ve looked over it 5-zillion times. Find some editors to take a peak at your work, especially the more important ones, so your writing shines as bright as your ideas.
